MADISON, Wisconsin – September 9, 2008– DNASTAR, a leading bioinformatics software company, and Wageningen University and Research Centre (Wageningen UR), the Netherlands announced today the signing of a broad license agreement for the use of Lasergene sequence analysis software developed by DNASTAR.

Under the terms of the site license, researchers in the Department of Plant Science of the university and Plant Research International, both parts of Wageningen UR will have unlimited use of the software for their sequence analysis projects.  Lasergene is a comprehensive sequence analysis software program providing users with tools for performing a wide range of assembly, visualization and analysis operations on data generated by conventional Sanger sequencing method as well as Next Generation platforms available from Roche 454® and Illumina®.

Bob Steinhauser, DNASTAR’s Director of Marketing, “Wageningen University is one of the leading life science research universities in Europe.  DNASTAR has been building its relationship with the Wageningen University for many years.   We are very pleased that the University chose our software for their sequence assembly and analysis research needs.   We continue to see business trends where organizations are trending towards standardizing their research platforms to simplify data sharing among their scientists.   Lasergene’s novel features and broad applications base make it an excellent platform choice to address present and future genomic research needs.”

Lasergene is a comprehensive, easy to use suite of tools for molecular biologists and geneticists used primarily in the assembly and analysis of DNA and protein sequences.  The software provides researchers with a broad range of analysis tools that can be used with traditional and Next-Generation sequence analysis projects.  It has been sold in over 65 countries worldwide.  Wageningen University joins a growing list of public and private organizations worldwide that are utilizing the Lasergene sequence analysis software program.
