Abstract or Description:

Jugular vein on either side of the neck is identified which is quite prominent. With the thumb or fingers of one hand pressure is applied on the vein (Lower side neck) to engorge it, a small patch is shaved over the area (if required), antiseptic is applied and needle (18G or 20G) attached with the syringe is inserted into the vein to collect blood. Collect blood, withdraw needle and do antiseptic swabbing over the area.
