Technology Review posted a nice article on nano research highlights in 2007. You can access it here: http://www.technologyreview.com/Nanotech/19983/

Briefly, they mention flexible electronics, nanogenerators, making objects invisible using nanotechnology (that reminds me of one of the Star Trek movies - and 'transparent aluminum'), nanoglue, nanobatteries.

I think that the field of nanotechnology is one of the most valuable scientific disciplines that the world has. Forget fiction with 'invisibility' and other fruitless topics and think about the medical possibilities! Just to name a few resolves, consider a world without cancer. Without the worry of being a victim of sun cancer. Just imagine! To me nanotechnology should be of HIGHEST PRIORITY in the scientific world.
